Legislative Acts That Shaped Aviation
TSA created new security procedures such as the screening of all passengers/bags. The primary reason for creation of the TSA was to oversee aviation security and ensure attacks like 911 wouldn't happen again in the future. The mission of the TSA is to "protect the nation's transportation systems to ensure freedom of movement for people and commerce" (TSA, n.d.). Now, air travel is safer than ever thanks to our many layers of security, such as a thorough screening process and metal/weapon detectors, bulletproof cockpit doors, air marshals, surveillance, etc., to guard travelers and the industry against threats. Even though these TSA lines can get frustrating and detailed, it is worth it to know that we are safe. Also, TSA is always focused on developing/implementing state of the art security technology to enhance security even more (TSA, n.d.). There will always be threats to the industry, which is why the Transportation Security Administration works hard every day around the world to reduce these threats and ensure safety of flyers.
